BIM Detailer – Electrical (Madison, Milwaukee and Dubuque)

Job Summary:
The BIM Detailer – Electrical is responsible for developing detailed, accurate Building Information Models (BIM) and construction drawings for electrical systems. This role supports project coordination, fabrication, and installation by producing high-quality 3D models and documentation that align with project specifications, codes, and schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain detailed 3D BIM models of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
  • Produce coordinated shop drawings, layout drawings, and installation details from BIM models.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure constructability and accuracy.
  • Participate in clash detection and coordination meetings with other trades (mechanical, plumbing, structural).
  • Update models and drawings based on RFIs, change orders, and field conditions.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Assist with prefabrication efforts by generating spool drawings and material takeoffs.
  • Maintain organized project files and adhere to company BIM standards and workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical drafting, detailing, or BIM modeling.
  • Proficiency in BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and construction practices.
  • Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code) and industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for an electrical contractor.
  • Knowledge of prefab workflows and VDC (Virtual Design and Construction).
  • Experience with point cloud modeling or laser scanning is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based with occasional site visits.
  • Collaborative team setting with engineers, project managers, and field personnel.
