We are searching for Safety Specialists to join our Madison office and Milwaukee office! This role is responsible for all aspects of the Westphal & Co. Inc. Safety and Health Program, this includes both Westphal Electric as well as Globalcom Technologies. The responsibilities include implementation and enforcement by ensuring that company safety policy is adhered to. Primary responsibility is to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
The Safety Specialist reports directly to the Safety Director.
Core Responsibilities include conducting and/or assisting the Safety Director with the following activities:
- New hire safety training orientation.
- Maintain and file all necessary paperwork related to Toolbox talks, monthly trainings, equipment inspections, safety permits, and other.
- Maintain and organize important PPE such as fall protection and arc flash equipment.
- Respond to requests for company PPE equipment.
- Assist and perform various company training programs.
- Assist with accident inspections and reports.
- Write and maintain project specific safety plans.
- Conducting project site visits and produce site safety reports.
- Conducting, recording, and record keeping of all OSHA required safety training
- Maintenance of Westphal & Co., Inc. annual man lift inspection, certification, and documentation program.
- Maintaining a constant chemical inventory and reporting new chemicals to the company contracted to provide updated MSDS data.
Specific Ancillary Responsibilities include:
- Assist in maintaining a suitable safety equipment inventory at all Westphal & Co. Inc. branches.
- Assist in distribution of OSHA required weekly toolbox talks.
- Help maintain a matrix detailing the status of employee training and future training required.
- Assist in the identification of productivity concerns and issues.
- Attend seminars and safety update classes to remain current with all OHSA and other safety regulations.
- Inspect and collect data on the safety conditions of project sites.
- Work with the safety director to research leading indicators to make our program more proactive.
- Work with the Safety Director to develop and maintain creative programs to keep safety in the forefronts of Company staff as a normal part of everyday activities.
- Assist safety Director with maintaining meaningful catalog inventory for sought after items related to the safety award program.

Preferred Education requirements:
- B.S. Occupational and Environment Health Safety
- Other Construction emphasis degrees
- OSHA 10, 30 or 500 Certifications.
- Equivalent relative experience.
