This project consisted of the construction of a new 1,500MW gas-fired generating plant on a greenfield site, in the heart of the UW Campus. Also included were electrically driven chillers that provide 20,000 tons of chilled water to the university, and the excess steam from the generation cycle generates 500,000 lbs/hr of steam to heat the UW Campus.

Westphal & Co. performed all electrical work associated with the construction of two dual-fuel combustion turbine generators, one steam turbine generator, and four 5,000 ton electric chillers. The project included underground electric utilities, medium voltage power, line voltage power, lighting, fire alarm, voice/data and associated systems, control and instrumentation, grounding, and cathodic protection.
